There is a good book in The Serpent Garden. It's just much shorter than the Serpent Garden actually is. In this book, Susanna Dallet is a miniaturist in the early reign of Henry VIII. A miniature she does of the king's sister Mary catches the eye of Cardinal Wolsey, and she ends up in /5.
